Man fatally shot in East Oakland

OAKLAND — A 33-year-old man was fatally shot in East Oakland early Sunday morning, authorities said, marking the 14th suspected homicide to be investigated by the Oakland Police Department this year.

The shooting occurred at 1:48 a.m. Sunday on the 2500 block of 62nd and Bancroft avenues. Authorities were alerted to the shooting through a gunshot detection system. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he died.

The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification to his family. No arrests were made and details on a potential suspect or motive were not released.
