San Sharks’ Luke Kunin hosted children and families affected by Type 1 Diabetes for his LKT1D Fund (Luke Kunin Type 1 Diabetes) with a “Skate Party at Sharks Ice.”

According to a San Jose Sharks press release, “At the age of 12, Luke Kunin was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. This rare form of diabetes impacts fewer than two million people in the United States and, due to its impact on blood sugar levels, can severely impact athletic performance.”

Kunin created his fund in 2021 to help bring awareness, fund research and support kids with Type 1 diabetes. SJ Sharkie and fellow teammate Tyler Toffoli joined in to skate around the Sharks practice rink with the local families.
