Update: High wind warning affecting Bay Area Shorelines until Friday morning

Bay Area Shorelines is the focus of an updated high wind warning issued at 1:56 p.m. on Thursday by the National Weather Service. The warning is in effect until Friday at 10 a.m.

The NWS San Francisco CA said, “Southwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph possible. Isolated gusts up to 80 mph possible in the higher elevation.”

“Damaging winds could down trees, snap power lines, and result in property damage. Widespread power outages are possible. Travel could be extremely difficult and hazardous, especially for high profile vehicles. The combination of wind and moist soils will increase the risk for downed trees,” the NWS said. “People are urged to secure loose objects that could be blown around or damaged by the wind.”

The full list of affected locations includes:

Marin Coastal Range
Sonoma Coastal Range
Coastal North Bay including Point Reyes National Seashore
San Francisco Peninsula Coast
Santa Cruz Mountains
Northern Monterey Bay
