SAN JOSE – A driver hit and injured a pedestrian Wednesday night in San Jose, according to authorities.

Officers were called to the intersection of North First and East Mission streets around 4:15 p.m. for a report of a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian, the San Jose Police Department said in a social medial post.

The pedestrian was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police said the person was later stabilized but remained in critical condition Wednesday night.

Additional details about the incident were not immediately available.

The southbound direction of North First Street was closed from Hedding Street to Mission Street for an investigation.
