Welcome to the Bay Area News Group (Mercury News & East Bay Times) boys Athlete of the Week poll.
For the entire academic year, we will provide a list of candidates who stood out over the previous week and allow you, the reader, to vote for the winner.
This week, we consider performances from Feb. 17-22.
Polls close at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
Vote as many times as you’d like until then without using bots or any other artificial methods of voting.
Votes by email and after 5 p.m. Wednesday are not counted.

Winners are announced each Friday online and in the print edition of the Mercury News and East Bay Times sports sections.

We accept nominations until 11 a.m. each Monday.
We also review stats submitted to MaxPreps by coaches/team statisticians.
On to the nominees:
Ayden Bobbitt, Santa Teresa basketball: Bobbitt, a senior, scored a game-high 25 points to lead Santa Teresa past Independence 89-78 in the second round of the CCS Division I playoffs. Santa Teresa will travel to Carlmont on Tuesday in the quarterfinals.
David Calkins Jr., Liberty wrestling: The junior won the 192-pound title at the NCS championships, defeating Clayton Valley’s Brady Coddington by fall (1:40). Calkins won his third consecutive NCS crown.
Kenny Cloud, Dougherty Valley basketball: The senior scored a team-high 22 points in Dougherty Valley’s 79-61 win over Ygnacio Valley in the NCS Division I quarterfinals. The Wildcats will host Clayton Valley in the semifinals on Tuesday.
Travis Grace, Gilroy wrestling: Grace won the 165-pound CCS title after defeating Palma’s Isaiah Rangel by fall (1:17).
Kellen Hampton, Moreau Catholic basketball: The University of Pacific-bound senior averaged 26 points across two NCS Division II playoff wins over Head-Royce and Urban. The Mariners will host University-San Francisco on Wednesday in the semifinals.
Cameron Jackson, Kennedy-Fremont wrestling: Jackson defeated Windsor’s Antonio Garaventa by a 13-0 decision to capture the 108-pound NCS championship.
Connor Jeong, Castro Valley wrestling: Jeong won his second straight NCS title, this time at 115 pounds, defeating Del Norte’s Alexander Osborne by an 18-6 decision.

Pranav Krishnan, Milpitas basketball: The sophomore totaled 14 points to lead Milpitas to a 55-44 upset victory over Bellarmine in the CCS Open Division playoffs. Milpitas will travel to St. Ignatius on Monday for its next pool play game.
Luke Schoch, Los Gatos wrestling: The freshman took home the 120-pound CCS crown, defeating Gilroy’s Jose Limones by fall (4:59).
Reed Sunwoo, Menlo soccer: The junior delivered the game-winning penalty kick to lift Menlo over Palo Alto 1-1 (6-5) in the CCS Division II quarterfinals. Menlo will play Carlmont in the semifinals on Wednesday.
