Police looking for woman kidnapped from East Oakland street

OAKLAND — Investigators continue to search for a woman who was kidnapped in East Oakland on Tuesday, police said.

The woman, who police said is between 20 and 22 years old, was walking in the 1800 block of 98th Avenue about 3:30 p.m., when a person tried to hit her with a car, according to a statement from Oakland police. That person next got out of the car, punched the woman several times and grabbed her and forced her into the vehicle, police said.

Shooting in North Oakland kills man; police looking for shooter

The person who did the kidnapping then jumped into the driver’s seat and took off. According to police, the car went westbound on 98th Avenue.

Police described the woman as a black female, approximately 5 foot, 5 inches tall and 140 pounds. She has dreadlocks that are black and blue and was wearing a light-colored hoodie and light-colored jeans.

The suspect is between 20 and 24 years old and a black male, according to police. He is about 5 foot, 5 inches tall with a thin build with short twisted hair, and a scar or mark on his left cheek, police said. They added he last was seen wearing a black hoodie with a white logo on the back blue jeans and white shoes.

Police said they later recovered the car and found out it had been stolen.

Police asked anyone with information to contact the Oakland Police Department’s missing persons unit at 510-238-3641 or to dial 9-1-1.
