One person is dead and another injured following a two-vehicle crash in Martinez on Friday evening, police said.
The collision occurred around 6:38 p.m. near the intersection of Alhambra Avenue and Elderwood Drive and Glenview Drive, according to a Saturday news release by the Martinez Police Department. The area is in the southern most part of the city and borders Pleasant Hill.

One of the drivers succumbed to injuries at the scene, while the other was transported to a nearby medical center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The department is conducting an investigation. At this time, it is unknown whether drugs or alcohol were factors in the collision, the release states.
