Weekend violence breaks out in usually quiet East Bay city

PLEASANTON — Two 18-year-olds were stabbed in their legs, while a 39-year-old man pulled a gun and brandished it during two separate incidents last weekend, police said.

The adult teens both were expected to be OK, and officers arrested a person under 18 years old on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, according to a statement from Pleasanton police. That person went to Juvenile Hall.

The 18-year-olds, both Pleasanton residents, were taken by an ambulance to a hospital, where doctors treated them.

Police said the stabbing came during a fight involving 10 people at various ages of their teens. The fight broke out about 11 p.m. Saturday in the 1000 block of Harvest Circle. Lt. Nicholas Albert in an email exchange wrote that it was not believed to be gang-related, and that the teens on the opposing sides knew each other.

The brandishing of the gun came at an undisclosed time Sunday in the 6000 block of Alisal Street. Police said officers were called on reports that the man had pulled out a gun and threatened to kill somebody else in the home.

“This is the suspect’s residence, and he resides there with several other individuals,” Albert wrote. “This is a larger property with several dwellings, and the conflict between the suspect was with another male resident of the property.”

Police said they arrested the suspect on suspicion of brandishing a firearm; threatening a crime in order to terrorize; and trying to dissuade a witness.

Jail records indicated the man remained in custody at Santa Rita Jail in Dublin on Tuesday in lieu of $70,000 bail.
