Sunnyvale: ‘Top Chef’ winner will open her Silicon Valley restaurant on Monday

Stephanie Izard, the first woman to win the “Top Chef” title, will welcome the first diners to her Northern California debut restaurant on Monday, March 31 — just five months after announcing the Silicon Valley project.

Reservations are now being accepted for Sunnyvale’s Valley Goat, the star restaurant tenant of the first Treehouse Hotel in the United States, the Boka Restaurant Group said. That two-year lodging project was built on the former Sheraton site on North Mathilda Avenue.

Izard’s Girl & the Goat restaurants in Chicago and Los Angeles present globally influenced, locally sourced, shareable dishes — including a few featuring that signature ingredient. The catchy theme came about because the name Izard is a type of mountain goat in the French Pyrenees.

Among her notable dishes that diners will find on the inaugural Sunnyvale menu are Goat Empanadas, Sticky Pork Shank and Sauteed Green Beans in a Fish Sauce Vinaigrette. Newcomers for this market include Wood-fired Eggplant with Tahini, Carrot Hummus and Tzatziki; Pork Belly Noodles with Wood-fired Pineapple; and Spiced Fish Tostadas

Lunch/brunch, bar bites and dinner will be served daily, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Valley Goat will offer seating for 250 guests inside, on the patios and in the bar.

Izard got her big break on Bravo TV’s “Top Chef” in the fourth season, becoming the first woman to capture the title. She won the James Beard Foundation award for “Best Chef: Great Lakes” in 2013 and has chalked up numerous other awards and raves.

Details: Valley Goat is located at 1100 N. Mathilda Ave., Sunnyvale. Go to this link for reservations: www.sevenrooms.com/explore/valleygoat/reservations/create/search
