Welcome to the Bay Area News Group (Mercury News & East Bay Times) boys Athlete of the Week poll.
For the entire academic year, we will provide a list of candidates who stood out over the previous week and allow you, the reader, to vote for the winner.
This week, we consider performances from March 24-29.
Polls close at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
Vote as many times as you’d like until then without using bots or any other artificial methods of voting.
Votes by email and after 5 p.m. Wednesday are not counted.

Winners are announced each Friday online and in the print edition of the Mercury News and East Bay Times sports sections.

We accept nominations until 11 a.m. each Monday.
We also review stats submitted to MaxPreps by coaches/team statisticians.
On to the nominees:
Matthew Anderson, Christopher baseball: The senior pitched a complete-game shutout, striking out six and allowing just one hit on 73 pitches in Christopher’s 7-0 win over Leland. Christopher (7-4) will host Pioneer on Wednesday.
Tim Edwards, Pittsburg track and field: Edwards won the 100-meter dash at the Bay Area Relays at Foothill High with a time of 10.63.
Lucas Glazier, San Ramon Valley baseball: Glazier had a bases-clearing double in SRV’s 11-2 win over Amador Valley. SRV (5-6) hosts Dougherty Valley on Wednesday.
Archer Horn, St. Ignatius baseball: Horn hit a two-run homer in St. Ignatius’ 11-0 win over Riordan. St. Ignatius (6-2-2) has won its last four games.
Justin Jeong, Leigh baseball: Jeong went 3 for 3 with two doubles and three RBIs to lead Leigh to a 12-0 win over Westmont. Leigh (9-1) travels to Leland on Wednesday.
Royce Pennington, Vallejo baseball: The sophomore struck out nine and allowed just one hit in Vallejo’s 15-0 win over Richmond. Vallejo (5-3) is slated to host San Lorenzo on Tuesday.
Amado Viray Santos, James Logan baseball: Santos was 7 for 8, drove in four runs and scored five times across two wins against Kennedy-Fremont and a victory over Burlingame. Logan (5-6) has won its last three games.
