The wreck March 28 happened about 3:55 a.m. on Interstate 80 in the eastbound direction, the California Highway Patrol said. Killed was Mariah Zarate, 30, of Vacaville. The Contra Costa Sheriff’s Office released her identity on Tuesday.
According to the CHP, Zarate drove a Dodge Caliber into the back of a big rig truck that had come to a stop because of heavy traffic. She died at the scene.
Nobody else was in the Dodge. The big rig driver was not injured.
The CHP closed all lanes of eastbound I-80 from 4:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.
