ORINDA — Contra Costa prosecutors have charged a man with 14 misdemeanors for allegedly using hidden cameras to record a woman who lived at a house where he was staying, court records show.
Lunming Yuen, of San Francisco, was charged with 13 counts of invading privacy and one count of peeping. The charges allege that Yuen illegally recorded a woman changing, with offense dates from April to September 2024, court records show.
Yuen was a guest at the Orinda home where the alleged crimes took place. Authorities describe him as a family friend who later confessed to having a strong interest in the person he allegedly recorded. The investigation started in September 2024, when the woman discovered a hidden camera in an outlet plug, according to court filings.
When confronted by the woman, police say Yuen apologized and said there weren’t any other cameras. But police interviewed Yuen at his San Francisco home in November 2024, and he allegedly confessed to setting up cameras in the bathroom and her bedroom to record her changing, according to court records.
During the police interview, Yuen estimated having 100 images and videos of the woman, authorities said.
The charges were filed on March 27. Yuen has not yet appeared in court and has a misdemeanor warrant for his arrest, according to court records.
