Welcome to the Bay Area News Group (Mercury News & East Bay Times) boys Athlete of the Week poll.
For the entire academic year, we will provide a list of candidates who stood out over the previous week and allow you, the reader, to vote for the winner.
This week, we consider performances from March 31-April 5.
Polls close at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
Vote as many times as you’d like until then without using bots or any other artificial methods of voting.
Votes by email and after 5 p.m. Wednesday are not counted.

Winners are announced each Friday online and in the print edition of the Mercury News and East Bay Times sports sections.

We accept nominations until 11 a.m. each Monday.
We also review stats submitted to MaxPreps by coaches/team statisticians.
On to the nominees:
Prince Babalola Buchango, St. Ignatius track and field: The junior won the 110-meter hurdles at the Stanford Invitational with a time of 14.10.
Tommy Brown, Granada baseball: Brown totaled four RBIs to lead Granada to a 4-1 win over Pittsburg. Granada (10-2) will compete in the National High School Invitational in North Carolina starting on Wednesday.
Sly Cash, Los Altos baseball: Cash struck out 10 and allowed just one hit in 6 ⅓ innings to lead Los Altos to a 1-0 win over Palo Alto. Los Altos (8-4) hosts Westmont on Saturday.
Aiden Chen, Saratoga baseball: Chen was 6 for 7 with a double, two triples and 10 RBIs across two games against Monta Vista and MacDonald. In Saratoga’s 16-0 win over MacDonald, Chen struck out 15 and allowed no hits in six innings.
Cooper Hu, Albany track and field: Hu took first place in the 100-meter race at the East Bay Invitational, crossing the finish line in 11.17.
Kingston Hushyar, De La Salle lacrosse: The freshman scored three times and had an assist to lead De La Salle to a 20-1 win over San Ramon Valley. De La Salle is 9-3 this season.
Miguel Long, Piedmont track and field: Long, a senior, took first place in the triple jump at the Stanford Invitational, reaching a distance 13.93 meters.

Tres Onyejekwe, Menlo track and field: Onyejekwe, a freshman, set school records in the 300 and 110-meter hurdles at the Woodside Sunshine Invitational. He took first place in the 300 hurdles with a time of 39.4 and won the 110 in 15.22.
Jayden Peters, Lincoln-San Jose baseball: Peters threw a complete game, striking out five and allowing just five hits in Lincoln’s 9-1 win over Live Oak. Lincoln (12-4) will host Gilroy on April 15.
James Voorhies, College Park baseball: The senior threw a no-hitter, striking out 14 and walking two batters in College Park’s 5-0 win over Burlingame. College Park (4-4) begins league play on Tuesday against Campolindo on the road.
