OAKLAND — A two-alarm fire was burning Thursday afternoon in the East Oakland hills.
Authorities said the fire, which erupted about 1:05 p.m. in the 7500 block of Hansom Drive had burned mostly vegetation but also an empty shack-like structure, authorities said.
The fire was still burning as of 2:00 p.m. but was considered contained, Fire Department spokesman Michael Hunt said.
The area is near the Leona Canyon Regional Open Space Reserve.
No evacuations had been ordered and no injuries had been reported.
Oakland firefighters were the first to respond and the East Bay Regional Park District and Cal Fire were assisting, including with air units for water drops.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
