Theft from person, theft by access card: Between 4:15 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., someone stole a debit card from a Saratoga resident’s purse while the victim shopped in Campbell, then used the card to make several withdrawals at an ATM in San Jose for a total loss of approximately $3,950.

Check fraud A Saratoga resident reported that someone used fraudulent checks to withdraw money from their bank account for a total loss of approximately $4,865.

Petty theft: Between 12:57 a.m. and 1:56 a.m., someone entered an unlocked vehicle parked in the 20000 block of Ashley Way and stole miscellaneous items valued at approximately $80.

Battery: At 10:39 a.m., deputies responded to a disturbance call at La Cueva Mex Grill on Prospect Road. An investigation revealed two employees got into a physical altercation the night before, and the victim alleges the suspect punched them twice in the face. The case is being submitted to the district attorney’s office for review.

Recovered stolen vehicle, receiving/selling stolen property: At 2:41 p.m., deputies responded to an automated license plate reader notification for a stolen vehicle at Saratoga Avenue and Highway 85. An investigation revealed the vehicle was previously stolen from Merced and was still outstanding. The vehicle was located a short time later at Dolphin Drive and Allendale Avenue, and further investigation revealed the driver of the vehicle was a victim of fraud and mislead into buying the stolen vehicle for a total loss of approximately $6,000.

April 4

Identity theft, unauthorized computer access, fraud: A Saratoga resident reported that someone used their personal information to access their internet service and bank accounts, then withdrew money from the victim’s savings account for a loss of approximately $9,200.

April 6

Vandalism At 5:38 a.m., someone attempted to break a window of a vehicle at the Vineyards of Saratoga condominium complex on Vineyard Lane, causing damage estimated at approximately $2,000.
