Road closures
Construction on the Main Street Bridge over Highway 17 and along the southbound Highway 17 overpass to the northbound offramp to South Santa Cruz Avenue in Los Gatos were expected to cause lane closures overnight and during the day starting April 15, according to a Caltrans notice.

Construction will take place Monday through Friday between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m. One lane will be closed during these times as a result. There may also be some daytime lane closures, but the schedule is still pending. Parking on the Main Street overcrossing bridge may also be limited to only one side of the bridge due to construction, according to a notice from the Town of Los Gatos. The notice said pedestrian detours will be in place, and bikers and drivers will have to share the road during construction.
The work is part of a project to upgrade the safety and reliability of the sidewalks and bridge rails and protect pedestrians and bikers using those crossings. Caltrans said the project is expected to be completed in December.
The Santa Cruz Avenue undercrossing’s existing bridge rail will be replaced, and the bridge deck beneath the barrier will be strengthened.
For the Main Street overcrossing, the sidewalk, concrete barrier and chain link railing will be replaced. The bridge deck beneath the barrier will also be strengthened.
Easter egg hunt
Hop over to Oak Meadow Park on April 19 for an Easter egg hunt hosted by the Kiwanis Club of Los Gatos.
Their annual egg hunt is free, and the event is for children ages 3-10. About 10,000 eggs filled with toys and candy will be strewn throughout the park.
“It’s a really fun and easygoing event for the little kids,” said Nancy Pearson, a Kiwanis Club board member, adding that she expects the event to attract around 700 children and their families.
Attendees should bring their own baskets to collect the eggs. After the egg hunt, children can play some games while waiting to take a picture with the Easter Bunny.
The event will start at 10 a.m. and last until noon. Oak Meadow Park is at 233 Blossom Hill Road.
