Cal losing Bay Area football products Jaivian Thomas, Jack Endries to transfer portal

Cal is losing another running back and a tight end, too.

Jaivian Thomas, who starred at running back for McClymonds High before moving on to Cal, has entered the transfer portal, according to Rivals’ Adam Friedman.

Tight end Jack Endries, a Monte Vista High product, also is in the portal and reportedly planning to visit Texas.

Thomas was Cal’s leading rusher in 2024, compiling 626 yards on 100 carries and seven touchdowns. He is an Oakland native who was the 2022 Bay Area News Group Alameda County player of the year.

Endries was a first-team all-Bay Area News Group selection as a high school senior in 2021. He caught 56 passes for 623 yards and two touchdowns for Cal last season.

Cal’s running back room has been devastated by transfers within the past week. The Bears lost Jaydyn Ott, a former all-Pac-12 running back and face of the program, to Oklahoma on Tuesday.

Running backs Kadarius Calloway, Byron Cardwell Jr. and Justin Williams-Thomas have also entered the transfer portal from Cal in recent days.

The quintet of portal entries comprises all five of Cal’s top rushers last season.
