Bay Area News Group girls athlete of the week: Lucy Esquivel, Mills softball

Mills softball player Lucy Esquivel is the Bay Area News Group’s girls athlete of the week for April 21-26.

In online voting that ended at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Esquivel finished with 46.36% of the vote. Hillsdale softball player Lola Jones took second with 17.28%, and Design Tech softball player Ella Lewis was third with 12.01%.

Congratulations to all the candidates for this week’s recognition.

Esquivel led the charge with a homer, double, five RBIs and three runs scored as Mills beat Terra Nova 18-3. The sophomore had two hits and four RBIs in a 16-1 win over Menlo-Atherton and added a pair of hits and one more RBI in an 8-1 win over St. Ignatius.
