Santa Clara baseball player Drew Diffenderfer is the Bay Area News Group’s boys athlete of the week for May 12-17.
In online voting that ended at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Diffenderfer had 46.72% to finish ahead of Bellarmine baseball player Christian Duarte, who was second at 26.35%.
Congratulations to all the candidates for this week’s recognition.
Diffenderfer, a senior, struck out six and gave up no runs in Santa Clara’s 7-0 win over Cupertino.
