Redwood City kicks off summer events May 30 with Music on the Square

Redwood City is launching its 19th season of summer events on May 30 with a Music on the Square concert by Carnaval. The concert series runs Fridays through Aug. 29, 6-8 p.m.

Summertime sips: Upcoming wine, beer and spirit events

The Wildcat Mountain Ramblers open the Pub in the Park series on May 31, 11 a.m.-4 p.m., at Red Morton Park. The series continues on Saturdays, July 12, Aug. 2 and Sept. 6.

“Twisters” opens the Movies on the Square series on June 5 The series runs Thursdays through Aug. 28; kids movies start at 6 p.m., independent films at 8 p.m., and feature films at 8:30 p.m.

EPACENTER: Illuminated

Grammy-winning opera composer Mason Bates will lead musicians in a multimedia concert on May 30, blending classical and electronic music in a performance to benefit EPACENTER, the youth creativity facility in East Palo Alto.

Bates’ works include “The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs.” He is currently preparing for the world premiere of his next opera, “The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay,” at the Metropolitan Opera next fall.

In addition to Bates’ performance, EPACENTER: Illuminated! will feature youth performances, hands-on artmaking and more. Guests at this fundraiser will also explore interactive exhibits showcasing EPACENTER’s programs in visual arts, design, performance and music before the show.

Tickets for the fundraiser start at $1,500 at https://epacenter.org/event/2025epacenter-illuminated.
