Thousands of festivalgoers gathered Saturday at the Napa Valley Expo for the second Festival La Onda, the biggest Latin music festival in Northern California.
La Onda, from the organizers of BottleRock Napa Valley, featured Latin Grammy-winning artists Marco Antonio Solis, Pepe Aguilar, Banda MS, Xavi, and many others on day one of the Latin music showcase.
The popular Mexican regional music band Grupo Firme canceled their performance on Friday after the United States government suspended the musicians’ visas. The U.S. State Department has revoked visas of a number of Mexican musicians for playing a genre of music that it says glorifies cartel violence.
Other acts included Chino Pacas, Christian Nava, Edgar Alejandro, Camila Fernández, Sonora Tropicana, MAR and Los Aptos.
The lineup for Sunday is Tito Double P, Carin León, Ángela Aguilar, Eden Muñoz, Codiciado, Oscar Maydon, Cornetto, La Receta, Clave Especial, Alicia Villarrea, Reyna Tropical, Erre, Adriana Ríos, and Caleb Calloway.
Fans were delighted with genres such as Latin pop, rap, corridos tumbados, cumbia, rancheras, reggaeton, and more during day one of the two-day festival.
Fans also cheered for their favorite masked Mexican wrestlers during the lucha libre matches staged in between music performances.
