Two men wounded in Oakland shooting

OAKLAND — Two men were shot — one multiple times — just over two hours apart Monday night and Tuesday morning in different areas of the city, authorities said.

The shootings were about a mile apart but are not believed to be related, police said.

About 10:08 p.m. Monday a 41-year-old man was shot in the leg in the 600 block of 23rd Street, not far from the Uptown district.

The man was taken to a hospital where he was in stable condition.

Police said the man was uncooperative and would not say who shot him or why.

The other shooting happened about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 3100 block of San Pablo Avenue in West Oakland.

A 44-year-old Oakland man told police he was standing outside when he heard gunfire and realized he had been shot.  A friend gave him a ride to a hospital where he was being treated for at least three gunshot wounds, authorities said.

Police believe the man was the intended target of the shooter, but a motive was not immediately determined. No arrests were announced and no suspect information was released.

Anyone with information about the shootings may call investigators at 510-238-3426 or 510-238-7950. Anyone with video or photographs that might assist in the investigation may email them to [email protected].
