Celebrini was named to the NHL’s All-Rookie Team for the 2024-25 season on Thursday, becoming the first Sharks player to be selected to the list since Logan Couture in 2010-11.

Other Sharks to have made the team, which has three forwards, two defensemen, and a goalie, include Matt Carle and Marc-Edouard Vlasic (2006-07), Evgeni Nabokov (2000-01), Brad Stuart (1999-00), and Jeff Friesen (1994-95).

Celebrini was joined on this season’s all-rookie team by forwards Cutter Gauthier (Anaheim), Matvei Michkov (Philadelphia), defensemen Lane Hutson (Montreal), Denton Mateychuk (Columbus), and Gilroy-born goaltender Dustin Wolf (Calgary).

Sharks forward Will Smith was fourth among all forwards in voting by members of the Professional Hockey Writers Association.

Earlier this week, the PHWA selected Hutson as the Calder Memorial Trophy winner as the NHL’s top rookie. Wolf was second in voting and Celebrini was third.

Celebrini, who turns 19 on Friday, finished second among all rookies in both goals (25) and assists (38) and tied for second in points (63). He also tied for the rookie lead with eight power-play goals, ranked second in both even-strength points (41) and power-play points (22).

The Sharks’ first-ever, first-overall selection set a team record for rookie points and assists, became the second-ever Sharks rookie to lead the team in scoring, and was named as the team’s fourth-ever Calder Trophy finalist.
