VTA allocates money to address traffic in Los Gatos

Congestion relief

The Valley Transportation Authority allocated $11.3 million to a highway project in Los Gatos aimed at reducing congestion.

The project would change the current full cloverleaf entrances and exits to highways 17 and 9 to a spread-diamond configuration; add new lanes along Highway 17 between Lark Avenue and the interchange with Highway 9; implement transportation technology, like traffic signal control systems and advanced ramp metering systems; and implement features that would improve bicyclist and pedestrian travel.

The project aims to improve traffic on freeways and local streets and reduce cut-through traffic in Los Gatos. It also aims to support biking and walking and allow for different modes of travel.

The money for the project comes mostly from 2016 Measure B funds. The total project cost is estimated at $153 million. The work anticipated to be completed at the end of 2030.

The Butter Paddle is run by 70 members of EMQ Auxiliary and features a curation of items that include home decor, baby gifts, jewelry and gourmet treats. Many of these products are locally made and sourced from women-owned businesses.

The event will run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Voluptuary, which is at 16 N. Santa Cruz Ave.
