Sunnyvale Public Library gets a read on summer

Friends book sale

The Friends of the Sunnyvale Public Library are hosting a book sale July 19-20 at the library, located at 665 W. Olive Ave.

The sale will be  held in the library’s program room and will offer books for children and adults, movies on DVD and Blu-Ray, and music CDs. There will be items in English as well as other languages.

Sale hours are Saturday, July 19, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. (Friends members only at 9 a.m.), and Sunday, July 20, noon-p.m. Sunday is a $5 bag sale; buy a bag for $5 and fill it with what fits. Only the book sale will be accessible on Sunday from noon until the library opens at 1 p.m.

All sales help sponsor library programs and promote literacy cash, checks, and credit and debit cards are accepted.

Shoppers can join the Friends at the sale for $10 a year. Life membership is $200. Membership fees are tax-deductible. Visit https://fotsvl.org for more information.

Heartfelt donations

Students at Stratford School’s Sunnyvale De Anza campus closed out the 2024-25 school year by raising $38,376 for the American Heart Association, the most money donated among Stratford’s 27 locations around the Bay Area. Stratford Schools raised a total of $316,500 across all of their campuses.

Stratford schools have raised $2 million in donations for the American Heart Association over time. Donations are encouraged throughout the school year by promoting them in events, newsletters and other channels.
