The shooting July 5 happened just before 1 a.m. and killed 27-year-old Cruzita Plascencia, of Pittsburg. The Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office identified her.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies responded to Harbor Drive and found Plascencia down. Medics worked on her to an ambulance arrived, but she died at the scene.
The homicide was the second one in three weeks investigated by the sheriff’s office, and both have been in Bay Point. A shooting on June 14 killed one person and injured two others. That violence occurred in the 2100 block of Mendocino Drive and was in a residential front yard.
The sheriff’s office has not announced an arrest in either killing.
