CONCORD — A vehicle went off an East Bay highway Monday, killing the driver, authorities said.

The incident happened about 12:30 p.m. on westbound Highway 4 near the Willow Pass Road on-ramp, just west of Concord, according to reports confirmed by the California Highway Patrol.
The vehicle caught on fire after leaving the road and medics were not able to rescue the driver, who died at the scene.
The incident closed down all but one lane of traffic for about an hour.
