‘Donkey Kong Bananza’ launch event at Nintendo San Francisco store

The Nintendo San Francisco store is holding its third major event since it opened in May with the launch of “Donkey Kong Bananza.” The game marks the popular character’s second foray in a 3D platformer, and it’s also the second major first-party game built specifically for the Nintendo Switch 2.

The store is scheduled to open one hour early at 9 a.m. July 17 for game sales, and visitors who buy the game will receive a gift. No Warp Pipe Pass is required. From 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. July 18, Nintendo will hold a “Donkey Kong Bananza” launch event with photo opportunities, games and giveaways. Like previous events, the celebration will be first-come, first served and won’t require a Warp Pipe Pass.

Nintendo said visitors can line up at 3 p.m. for the limited capacity event.

Donkey Kong’s latest adventure features destructible environments, new transformations and co-op play. In “Donkey Kong Bananza,” the ape has a new side kick in a young singer named Pauline. The cooperative play works locally or online with GameChat support. The title also supports new amiibo figures of Donkey Kong and Pauline. It’s priced at $69.99.
