The larger of the complex’s fires, Butler, was ignited by lightning on July 3 in Six Rivers National Forest, and the first evacuation orders were issued on July 7. As of Tuesday, July 15, it had burned 9,191 acres (14 square miles) with no containment, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.
The fire is burning near the border of Siskiyou and Humboldt counties; so far all the evacuation orders are in Siskiyou County. For updates and details, including warning areas, see the Genasys Protect map or the Siskiyou County emergency website.
