The two-alarm fire was burning in a multi-unit and multistory apartment building at 9th and Madison streets, according to a social media post from the Oakland Fire Department.
Fire crews were working to extinguish the flames and protect the surrounding structures, authorities said.
There were no reports of injuries, the fire department added.
