The 90-day prohibition is one of several closures and restrictions new this summer at Lake Tahoe. Among the know-before-you-go updates:

/ No roadside parking in Emerald Bay area. From July 15 to Oct. 15 this year, parking isn’t allowed along Highway 89 between D.L. Bliss State Park and Cascade Lake. The only legal spaces on that 5-mile corridor will be those in the lots at Inspiration Point, the Eagle Falls trailhead and Vikingsholm. Daytime shuttles ($10 round trip) will run to the Eagle Falls trailhead from Camp Richardson and Sugar Pine Point.

/ D.L. Bliss State Park is closed. The campgrounds and most trails are closed, and the roads are off limits even for pedestrians. Possible reopening late this summer is dependent on completion of a large water-system project.

/ Parking reservations required at Sand Harbor. Through Oct. 15, the lakeside state park on the Nevada side is requiring reservations to enter the parking lot from the 8 a.m. opening to 10:30 a.m. If there are any spaces remaining at 10:30, they’ll be made available on a first-come, first-served basis. Day use fee for non-Nevada residents is $15, and the reservation fee is $5. It is not legal to park on the highway and walk in.

/ Trail closures at Spooner Lake. Many trails at the Nevada state park will be closed through 2006 because of construction projects.
