A Fremont man in his late 30s is now being investigated for potentially grooming and sexually abusing the minor. This newspaper is not naming the man to protect the alleged victim’s identity, but authorities say they found evidence he fled the country after learning he was under criminal investigation.
No charges have been filed as of Friday, court records show.
It all started in mid-June, when police were called to a Fremont home for a report of the girl fighting with her mother. When authorities learned the girl claimed to be “in love” with her mother’s husband, the investigation turned on its heels.
Police seized text messages where the man allegedly admitted to kissing the girl and to loving her, but denied further sexual activity. He told the girl in a text to “just deny it” if investigators asked her about being intimate, authorities said.
Investigators found more evidence of sexual abuse, and attempted to serve the man with a stay-away order at work. But they were told he had simply left at lunch and never came back, authorities said.
Authorities are still looking for him.
