Wednesday night’s victim was a 43-year-old San Leandro man. He was in stable condition with a single gunshot wound, authorities said.

He was shot around 7:49 p.m. Wednesday in the 500 block of 25th Street, just west of Telegraph Avenue.

Police said initial reports were that the man had been visiting relatives in the area and was walking on the sidewalk when he got into a verbal confrontation with possibly two people and was shot.

He was taken by ambulance to a hospital. The suspects fled before police could respond.

Investigators are trying to determine what the confrontation was over.  No arrests have been made and no suspect information has been released.

The earlier Northgate shooting happened around 11:24 p.m. Tuesday in the 300 block of 26th Street, about a block from Broadway.

A 42-year-old Richmond man who was sitting in his parked vehicle was shot several times by at least three people he had gotten into an argument with, authorities said. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.

A motive for that shooting remains under investigation and no arrests have been made.

Anyone with information about either shooting may call investigators at 510-238-3426.
