Preseason all-Bay Area News Group high school football 2025: WRs/tight ends

As part of our high school football coverage to get you ready for the 2024 season, we are rolling out all-Bay Area News Group preseason recognition.

Today’s positions:

WIDE RECEIVERS

Jalonn Anderson, Pinole Valley, 5-10, 165, sophomore

Three-star recruit earned all-league honors as a freshman. Holds offers from Colorado State and Sacramento State. 

Andrew Bjornson, Miramonte, 6-3, 185, senior

Caught 28 passes for 460 yards and six touchdowns last year. A three-star recruit, Bjornson has an offer from UNLV. 

Anthony Harrington, Amador Valley, 5-8, 145, senior

Harrington caught 86 passes for 1,503 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2024. Earned all-East Bay Athletic League first-team honors and is an Idaho State commit. 

Brayden Hodges, Branham, 6-1, 185, senior 

All-Blossom Valley Athletic League Mt. Hamilton Division first-team selection finished top 5 in the Central Coast Section in receiving yards with 997. 

Grant Maina, Monte Vista, 5-11, 170, junior

Expected to lead a young wide receiver group at the X position. Ran a sub-11 second 100-meter dash and holds an offer from Sacramento State. 

Riley McElvane, Valley Christian, 5-10, 156, junior

Three-star prospect has offers from Sacramento State, San Diego State and San Jose State. Caught three touchdowns and racked up 357 yards on 20 catches. 

RJ Mosley, Pittsburg, 6-4, 185, senior

University of Arizona commit caught 48 passes for 594 yards and eight TDs on 12.4 yards per catch. Earned all-BANG and all-Bay Valley Athletic League honors. 

Beau Musser, Los Gatos, 5-8, 145, senior

Peninsula Athletic League Bay Division wide receiver of the year caught 42 passes for 712 yards and seven touchdowns. Earned all-BANG honors in 2024. 

Judge Nash, Archbishop Riordan, 6-0, 160, senior

Three-star Harvard commit totaled three touchdowns and caught 22 passes across 11 games as a junior.

Zion Secrease, Sacred Heart Cathedral, 5-9, 170, junior

All-WCAL first-team selection caught 60 passes for 896 yards and 10 touchdowns as a sophomore. Holds offers from Sacramento State, Texas State and Southern Mississippi. 

Zui Shelton, St. Ignatius, 5-9, 165, senior

Caught 39 passes for 547 yards and three touchdowns in 2024. Has offers from Air Force, Portland State and Sacramento State. 

Emery Speight, De La Salle, 5-11, 160, senior

Returning starter from De La Salle’s run to Open Division state title game last year. Has offers from Columbia, Georgetown and Hawaii. 

Cynai Thomas, Archbishop Riordan, 6-2, 165, senior

Three-star Oregon State commit caught 47 catches for 727 yards and 12 touchdowns. Earned all-BANG first-team honors and was the WCAL wide receiver of the year. 

Kenneth Ward, Pittsburg, 5-8, 175, sophomore

Speedy receiver had a breakout season as a freshman, catching 21 passes for 560 yards and nine touchdowns. Has offers from Arizona, Colorado State, North Carolina, Sacramento State and San Diego State. 

Kyle Welch, Archbishop Riordan, 5-11, 175, senior

Three-star prospect caught 39 passes for 547 yards and five touchdowns for the King’s Academy last season. Transferred just as fall practice began. Has offers from Georgetown, Portland State, Sacramento State and Boise State. 

Gary Youngblood, El Cerrito, 6-0, 160, senior

Led El Cerrito in receiving yards and receiving touchdowns. Slated to be the top target for the Gauchos this season. 

TIGHT ENDS

Landon Cook, De La Salle, 6-5, 205, senior

Three-star tight end holds offers from Air Force, Army, Colorado State, Montana, Northern Arizona, San Jose State and Weber State. 

Lucas Grier, Westmont, 6-3, 210, senior

Blossom Valley Athletic League Santa Teresa-Valley Division first-team selection is slated to anchor Westmont’s offense. Earned all-BANG honors last season.

Colton Hider, Valley Christian, 6-4, 225, senior

Three-star tight end has offers from Portland State and Washington State. 

Crosby Kelly, Campolindo, 6-5, 235, senior

All-Diablo Athletic League Foothill Division first-team selection caught 14 passes for 171 yards and a touchdown. A three-star prospect, Kelly has offers from San Diego State and Penn. 

Valentino Maza, Mills, 5-11, 185, senior

Earned PAL Lake Division first-team and all-BANG honorable mention recognition. Caught 27 passes for 202 yards and a touchdown. 

Damien Miles, Granada, 6-5, 210, senior

Two-sport standout earned all-BANG honors last season. A three-star recruit, Miles holds offers from Colorado State, Nevada, Northern Arizona and Sacramento State.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE

Those eligible for all-BANG honors come from leagues based predominantly in Alameda, Contra Costa, San Mateo and Santa Clara counties. The news organization’s high school sports staff chooses the players.
