Four injured following Newark crash that sent car into home

At least four people are injured after a car crash involving a sedan and an SUV at a Newark intersection the night of Aug. 31.

The Newark Police department and Alameda County Fire Department responded to a call at 10:35 p.m. at the intersection of Cedar Boulevard and Lafayette Avenue involving a collision between an SUV and sedan. After the initial crash, the sedan then hit a home on the 5000 block of Lafayette Avenue, according to the Newark Police Department.

The driver of the sedan and the two SUV passengers were seriously injured while the driver of the SUV suffered minor injuries. Someone in the residence was also treated at a local hospital.

It’s believed that alcohol was a factor in the incident, according to a police statement. However, the crash is still being investigated by the Newark Police Department Traffic Unit.
