One week down, 15 more to go.

Nathan Canilao and Christian Babcock each chose 10 of the 16 games correctly on opening weekend to share the lead in the Bay Area News Group’s high school football picks competition.

All in fun, of course.

But even they were far from perfect. Canilao, for instance, brought into HSratings.com’s projection that Folsom would rout Serra 40-0. He said Folsom would win by running clock.

Folsom won 56-42 but needed two late touchdowns to pull away.

“Serra made me eat my words,” Canilao said. “They looked very impressive.”

As much as he missed on that game, Canilao was spot on when he took Hayward to beat Moreau Catholic. The Farmers left no doubt, winning 35-14.

We pick 15 more games this week, including De La Salle’s visit to Serra, Los Gatos’ trip to Liberty and San Ramon Valley traveling to the Santa Cruz area to play Soquel.
