Cooking for a good cause: ‘Star Chefs’ fundraiser returns Sept. 21

The fundraiser with the long title and the long list of noted Santa Clara County chefs will return Sunday, Sept. 21.

“Star Chefs and the Wines and Spirits They Love” features gourmet small plates paired with wines, spirits (or brews) — all to benefit Momentum for Health, a nonprofit provider of behavioral health services for more than 4,500 local residents annually.

The event was created in 2009 by Table for Three, a nonprofit group launched by community leaders Brenda Hammond and Kathryn Williams.

Back to cook in this friendly competition will be winners from the sold-out 2024 event: chef Jackie Jackson of San Jose’s two Jackie’s Place restaurants and chef Patrick Capurro of Be.Steak.A in Campbell.

Jackson won the People’s Choice award for her shrimp and grits appetizer paired with a Peach 75 cocktail, and Capurro took Judge’s Choice honors for the restaurant with a corn agnolotti and scallops dish.
