OAKLAND — A 77-year-old man found severely beaten and unconscious Sept. 25 in East Oakland has died from his injuries, authorities said Monday.
The man’s name has not been released pending the locating and notification of his family. Authorities said he is believed to have been unhoused.

The man was found about 7 a.m. Sept. 25 on the sidewalk near the intersection of 109th and Bancroft avenues.
He was unconscious and had severe blunt force trauma to his body from a beating, authorities said.
He was taken to a hospital where he died about 4 p.m. Friday afternoon, authorities said.
A motive for the fatal attack is under investigation. No arrests have been made and no suspect information has been released.
The killing is the 53rd homicide investigated by Oakland police this year. Last year at this time police had investigated 70 homicides in the city.
