Welcome to the Bay Area News Group (Mercury News & East Bay Times) boys Athlete of the Week poll.
For the entire academic year, we will provide a list of candidates who stood out over the previous week and allow you, the reader, to vote for the winner.
This week, we consider performances from Sept. 29 to Oct. 4.
Polls close at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
Vote as many times as you’d like until then without using bots or any other artificial methods of voting.
Votes by email and after 5 p.m. Wednesday are not counted.

Winners are announced each Friday online and in the print edition of the Mercury News and East Bay Times sports sections.

We accept nominations until 11 a.m. each Monday.
We also review stats submitted to MaxPreps by coaches/team statisticians.
On to the nominees:
Dailon Clark, Berkeley football: The senior caught three passes for 147 yards and two scores, including the game-winning, 60-yard touchdown pass that lifted Berkeley to a 21-18 win over San Leandro. Berkeley (2-4) has won back-to-back games.
Elliot De La Torre, Amador Valley football: De La Torre kicked a go-ahead 47-yard field goal with under a minute left as Amador Valley edged Dublin 17-14 to improve to 2-4.
Noah Defaii, James Logan water polo: The senior scored six goals, dished out three assists and had four steals in 20 minutes to lead Logan to a 20-9 win over American. Logan (7-9) will play Newark Memorial on Wednesday.
Lamar Ellis, Bishop O’Dowd football: Ellis rushed for 286 yards and five touchdowns on 20 carries to lead O’Dowd to a 54-42 win over Castro Valley. O’Dowd (3-3) will host Berkeley on Friday.

Juan Gonzalez, Concord football: Gonzalez passed for four touchdowns and ran for another to lead Concord to a 42-14 blowout win over Encinal. Concord (4-2) will open league play on Friday at home against Mt. Diablo.
Chase Graff, Archbishop Mitty football: Graff had six tackles and a sack while knocking in field goals from 35 and 53 yards to lead Mitty to a 32-7 win over Valley Christian. Mitty (4-1) will visit St. Francis on Friday.
Chase Iken, Prospect girls water polo: The senior scored three goals to lead Prospect to a 10-6 win over Sobrato. Prospect is off to a 10-1 start.
Dom Kristof, Mountain View football: Kristof carried 22 times for 303 yards and four touchdowns in Mountain View’s 35-28 win over Carlmont. Mountain View (2-3) will host San Mateo on Thursday.
Brandon Melo, Half Moon Bay football: Melo threw two touchdown passes and intercepted a pass on defense in Half Moon Bay’s 48-0 win over Sequoia. Half Moon Bay (4-1) will play host to Milpitas on Friday.
Jordan Thompson, Silver Creek football: Thompson rushed for 133 yards and two touchdowns to lead Silver Creek to a 17-7 win over Gilroy. Silver Creek (3-2) will travel to Pioneer on Friday.
