A warm spell in the Bay Area created by a high-pressure build is expected to peak on Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service, and the cooldown that’s coming will be rapid and significant.
It may also bring a smidge of rain to certain areas of the region by Thursday or Friday.

The high pressure has been building since the weekend along with the temperatures, which are expected to reach 88 in Livermore, 87 in Concord and 85 in San Jose amid sunny skies Tuesday.
The low pressure is coming from the Pacific Northwest, according to the weather service, and on a typical path to hit land in the North Bay. That will bring a lowering of temperatures by as much as 10-12 degrees on Wednesday, with possibly another 4-5 degree drop from that by Friday.
The rain that may fall is most likely to be light rain, with the heaviest in the North Bay. The weather service forecast the rain measurements will be in the tenths-of-inches in the heavier places and the hundredths of inches elsewhere.
