Welcome to the Bay Area News Group (Mercury News & East Bay Times) girls Athlete of the Week poll.
For the entire academic year, we will provide a list of candidates who stood out over the previous week and allow you, the reader, to vote for the winner.
This week, we consider performances from Oct. 6-11.
Polls close at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
Vote as many times as you’d like until then without using bots or any other artificial methods of voting.
Votes by email and after 5 p.m. Wednesday are not counted.

Winners are announced each Friday online and in the print edition of the Mercury News and East Bay Times sports sections.

We accept nominations until 11 a.m. each Monday.
We also review stats submitted to MaxPreps by coaches/team statisticians.

On to the nominees:
Bianca Covarrubius, Presentation flag football: The senior QB completed 22 of 30 passes for 222 yards and a touchdown in a 20-18 win over Castilleja. She added 32 yards rushing on four carries.
Chloe Gilbert, Castro Valley water polo: The senior had a prolific week for CV, scoring 11 goals and picking up five assists and five steals as the Trojans got wins over Bishop O’Dowd, Petaluma, Northgate and Livermore.
Tessa Kinney, Livermore flag football: The sophomore quarterback completed 15 of 23 passes for 183 yards and three TDs as Livermore routed Carondelet 26-0.
Leann Jung, James Logan volleyball: The senior setter had 110 set assists with only five ball-handling errors as Logan went 5-1 with wins over Newark Memorial, Irvington, Oak Ridge, Branson and Monte Vista. She added 32 digs, nine kills and nine service aces.
Maggie Kruger, Las Lomas flag football: The junior quarterback and safety ran for 93 yards and one touchdown in a 20-6 win over College Park, adding 11-20 passing for 133 yards and two TDs. She had three flag pulls defensively. In a 38-7 win over Acalanes, she ran for 101 yards and a score while completing 10 of 14 passes for 145 yards and three TDs. Defensively, she snagged two interceptions and had one flag pull.
Tessa Lee, Carlmont golf: The sophomore led Carlmont to three league victories last week at Menlo Country Club, Poplar Creek Golf Course and Stanford Golf Course. Lee averaged just four strokes over par across the matches and earned low medalist honors in all three events. She has now claimed low medalist honors in six of Carlmont’s seven league matches this season.

Jaden Rieger, Antioch tennis: The sophomore, playing at No. 5 singles, won her fourth match of the season, beating Liberty 6-2, 4-6, 10-8 in a hotly contested three-set match.
Sabina Sutaria, Menlo School water polo: The junior attacker tallied 13 goals, including the game-winner in a 13-12 win over Stevenson and a loss to Mitty. She also posted two assists.
Amaya Sutherland, Bishop O’Dowd volleyball: The senior setter registered 58 set assists and 11 digs as O’Dowd swept Piedmont and lost a tight four-setter to Castro Valley.
Sofie Zlobinsky, Hillsdale water polo: The freshman scored eight goals and added an assist as Hillsdale routed Half Moon Bay 13-2, then added a pair of scores as the Fighting Knights took care of Mercy 16-2.
