SAN JOSE — A nationwide fitness company has leased space at the El Paseo de Saratoga mixed-use neighborhood in San Jose in a deal that would fill a spot that has struggled to keep long-term tenants.
With addresses that range from 910 through 1000 El Paseo de Saratoga, Fitness International leased about 30,000 square feet in a building that’s next to the AMC Saratoga 14 movie theater, public records show.

A Club Studio Fitness gym is slated to operate in the new space, according to Peter Pau, president of Sand Hill Property Co., whose affiliate owns the shopping center. Fitness International also owns the LA Fitness and City Sports Club brands.
“This is just part of our ongoing redevelopment at El Paseo de Saratoga,” Pau said.

At the corner of Saratoga Avenue and Lawrence Expressway, Sand Hill Property has embarked on a wide-ranging redevelopment of El Paseo de Saratoga that includes homes and new merchants, such as Whole Foods Market, according to Sand Hill Property and public documents.
The site where Club Studio is expected to operate is at the southeast end of the center. Multiple tenants have operated in this space, but without any lasting success.
TruFusion and Total Woman Gym and Spa, TruFusion fitness center and Thomasville furniture have leased portions of the space in recent years. TruFusion and Total Woman Gym are permanently closed, according to Google Maps and Yelp.
“In the past three years, we have brought in 16 new tenants, with another 10 to come soon,” Pau said.
Several of these tenants will be part of the mixed-use section of the redevelopment center, according to Pau.
