OAKLAND — A 38-year-old man was wounded in a road rage related shooting Wednesday night in the Fruitvale district and the gunman remained at large Friday, authorities said.
The shooting happened just before 8 p.m. Wednesday in the 3400 block of East 9th Street.
The 38-year-old man was driving eastbound in a Honda sedan and a man in a Tesla was driving westbound.
Police said because of the narrowness of the street, the two vehicles stopped head-on. A dispute began over who was going to pass first, with both drivers flashing their lights and honking horns.
The Tesla driver got out of his vehicle and fired several shots at the man in the Honda, hitting him in the arm, police said.

The wounded Honda driver fired some shots at the Tesla — which apparently missed — and it kept going out of the area, authorities said.
The Honda driver was taken to a hospital where he was in critical but stable condition. A police hold was placed on him while the investigation was ongoing but it was determined he acted in self defense and no criminal charges have been filed against him, authorities said.
A detailed description of the Tesla driver was not released.
