No. 1 De La Salle 56, Amador Valley 13
Jayden Nicholas returned the opening kickoff 80 yards for a touchdown. Brayden Knight followed with a 30-yard TD pass to Dylan Scott. The rout was on. De La Salle improved to 7-0 with a victory on the road over Amador Valley (2-6). Darren Sabedra has more details here.
No. 3 Pittsburg 29, No. 14 Liberty 12
In a matchup between the Bay Valley Athletic League’s top teams, Pittsburg overcame a 6-0 deficit after the first quarter, led by a point at halftime and eventually pulled away to defeat host Liberty. Isaiah Harrison’s 5-yard TD run and Antonio Guzman’s point-after kick gave Pittsburg a 7-6 lead. The Pirates stretched the advantage to 13-6 when Deveon Wilson scored on a 48-yard reception from Carlos Torres. Liberty cut the margin to 13-12 at halftime when Jaxon Bell scored on a 2-yard run. Torres’ 5-yard pass to Truly Bell made it 20-12 and a safety (snap through the end zone) widened the lead to 22-12. Torres’ third TD pass of the game, from 56 yards to Harrison, capped the scoring. No. 4 Acalanes 45, No. 9 Campolindo 28
Tyler Winkles, Acalanes’ dual-threat quarterback, finished with nearly 300 total yards from scrimmage — 12-of-18 passing for 174 yards and eight keepers for another 125 — and four touchdowns as the host Dons beat rival Campolindo in Diablo Athletic League Foothill Division play. No. 6 Los Gatos 35, No. 16 Wilcox 21
In a revenge game for visiting Los Gatos, the Wildcats staked their claim as the best team in the Peninsula Athletic League’s Bay Division after the Chargers snatched that time away from them last year. Christian Babcock was in Santa Clara and has the details here.
No. 8 California 33, No. 7 San Ramon Valley 14
Arjun Banerjee turned in a masterpiece by completing 12-of-14 passes for 274 yards, including a perfectly-placed 52-yard scoring strike to Darius Brown, as California snapped a seven-game losing streak to San Ramon Valley. Justice delos Santos has the game story from San Ramon here.
No. 11 Archbishop Mitty 27, No. 22 Sacred Heart Cathedral 20
Joseph Engin completed 14 of 22 passes for 143 yards and had eight carries for 107 yards and two touchdowns to lead Archbishop Mitty (5-2, 3-1) to a West Catholic Athletic League victory over Sacred Heart Cathedral (3-4, 1-3) at Foothill College. Mitty’s Lazaro Faraj-Washington gained 163 total yards and scored a touchdown. — David Kiefer
No. 13 Menlo School 49, Palo Alto 6
Menlo built a 35-0 halftime lead on its way to a blowout victory over host Palo Alto in a PAL Bay Division game. The victory improved Menlo’s record to 7-0, 2-0. Jack Freehill rushed for two touchdowns, both from 6 yards out, and passed for two. Trevor van der Pyl caught an 82-yard touchdown pass and scored on an 88-yard kickoff return. Chuck Wynn opened the scoring for Menlo with an 11-yard run. Menlo plays host to Los Gatos for first place in the Bay next Saturday. Palo Alto is 0-7, 0-2. — Darren Sabedra
No. 18 Santa Teresa 42, Leigh 7
Despite Santa Teresa coach Steve Papin saying his team wasn’t sharp, the Saints dominated the Longhorns in Blossom Valley Athletic League Mt. Hamilton Division play. One potential reason for Papin’s concern? Santa Teresa (7-0, 2-0) didn’t match its scoring average of 49.2 points per game entering Friday night’s contest. Still, the Saints have scored at least 40 points in every game this season. Blake Zanger scored Leigh’s lone TD on a 3-yard run. Lochren Sullivan picked off two passes for the Longhorns (4-3, 0-2). — Christian Babcock
No. 19 El Cerrito 40, No. 20 Salesian 14
El Cerrito took command in the second half to defeat Salesian in a showdown for first place in the Tri-County Athletic League’s Rock Division. The teams were tied 7-7 at halftime. El Cerrito led by a touchdown after three quarters. In the final period, the host Gauchos pulled away with 19 unanswered points to improve to 5-2, 1-1. Izeah Buchanan threw two touchdown passes for Salesian, one to Jahlil Lindsey, the other to Carlton Perrilliat Jr. Salesian fell to 6-1, 1-1. – Darren Sabedra
No. 21 Clayton Valley 56, Miramonte 14
Jhadis Luckey scored six touchdowns – five rushing, one receiving – as host Clayton Valley overpowered Miramonte in a DAL Foothill Division game. In victories over Las Lomas and Miramonte to open league play, Clayton Valley (4-3, 2-0) has scored 119 points while giving up just 21. For Miramonte, Andrew Bjornson had six catches for about 80 yards and a TD. Harrison Feusier also caught a TD pass for the Mats, who dropped to 4-4, 0-2. – Darren Sabedra
Live Oak 17, No. 24 Lincoln-San Jose 13
Live Oak forced a four-way tie for second in the BVAL’s Mt. Hamilton Division with a victory against visiting Lincoln. Live Oak (6-1 overall), Lincoln, Branham, and Christopher each are 1-1 in the division, following only Santa Teresa (2-0). Michael Whitelaw had five receptions for 76 yards and a touchdown, and intercepted a pass for Lincoln (6-1). — David Kiefer
No. 25 Woodside 28, Half Moon Bay 14
Trailing 14-7 at halftime, Woodside scored touchdowns on three consecutive second-half possessions to beat visiting Half Moon Bay and remain undefeated. David Kiefer has the complete details from Woodside here.
East Bay
Alameda 40, Mt. Eden 6
Alameda used a balanced ground attack (two TDs from Wyatt Smith, three from Christian DeGuzman) to handle Mt. Eden at home. The Hornets (7-0, 2-0) remained undefeated in West Alameda County Conference Shoreline Division play behind the duo’s five scores. Smith scored from 10 and 20 yards out and DeGuzman from 14, 5 and 30. Hayden Arndt had three sacks to lead Alameda’s defensive pressure on the Monarchs (1-6, 0-2). Ikeaka Patterson had two sacks and two tackles for loss. Wyatt Smith had 10 tackles. — Christian Babcock
Dublin 23, Granada 20
Dublin picked up a nice road win after making the short trip to Livermore, clinching a chance to reach the North Coast Section playoffs. The Gaels (4-4, 1-1) used a 35-yard field goal from Aydin Kwan to take a 9-7 lead after going down early on Skyler Stuart’s 50-yard rushing score. Dublin fortified the lead with two rushing TDs by Andre Armendariz. Granada dropped to 4-4, 1-1. — Christian Babcock
Moreau Catholic 35, San Leandro 8
Moreau has generated some nice momentum in WACC Foothill Division play, winning two games in a row after an 0-2 start. The Mariners (3-5, 2-2) received two passing TDs from Kimoni Brown, who found Elijah Dysart and AJ Jackson for scores through the air. Jackson and Seth Evans each produced a rushing score, and Jackson returned a punt for a TD. “Lance Mitchell, Seth Evans and Chris Wilson led a great defensive effort,” said Moreau coach Keith Minor. Piedmont 40, Irvington 15
Xavier Henderson ran for three touchdowns and Jimmy Lagios scored two TDs to lead Piedmont to a win at home over Irvington in WACC Mission Division play. The Highlanders also got a 75-yard pick-six from George Saunders. “Defense had a big day,” Piedmont coach Jordan Seiden said. The Highlanders improved to 3-4, 1-1. Irvington dropped to 5-2, 1-1. – Darren Sabedra
South Bay/Peninsula
Branham 26, Christopher 14
Consistency was the name of the game as Branham bounced back from a disappointing loss to Lincoln to handle Christopher on the road in BVAL Mt. Hamilton Division play. The Bruins (5-2, 1-1) scored at least six points in every quarter, negating the Cougars’ 14-point spurt in the second. The Bruins salted away the win with a TD pass from Andrew Ho to Brayden Hodges midway through the fourth quarter. For Christopher (4-3, 1-1), Dylan Robinson completed 12 of 24 passes for 121 yards, one TD and an interception. He added 54 yards rushing. — Christian Babcock
Capuchino 35, Mountain View 28
Capuchino (2-5 overall) pulled into a second-place tie in the Peninsula Athletic League’s De Anza Division by beating visiting Mountain View. Cap, Burlingame, and San Mateo are tied at 1-1, behind only The King’s Academy (2-0). — David Kiefer
MacDonald 20, El Camino 14
MacDonald bounced back from a tough loss to Jefferson last week in PAL Lake Division play by edging El Camino at home. The Condors (6-1, 3-1) took an early lead thanks to a 7-yard rushing TD by Siaosi Hautau and a 34-yard pick-six by John Leonard. Hautau then added on with MacDonald’s second defensive touchdown, a 75-yard fumble return, to put the Condors up 20-0 late in the second quarter. MacDonald’s 20-point outlay in the second period proved to be the difference, as the Condors held off El Camino (3-4, 2-3) in the second half despite the Colts scoring two rushing TDs, including Noah David’s 4-yard TD early in the fourth quarter. — Christian Babcock
Prospect 24, Evergreen Valley 14
Prospect remained undefeated in BVAL West Valley Division play as Cody Roberts completed 25 of 31 passes for 198 yards and two touchdowns and also ran for two scores to lead the Panthers to a victory at home over Evergreen Valley. Kobe Richey-Bridges and Beauregard Green each caught TD passes from Roberts, both from 3 yards out. Prospect improved to 4-3, 4-0. Evergreen Valley is 3-4, 2-2. – Darren Sabedra

Sequoia 34, Hillsdale 14
By beating Hillsdale (2-5, 0-2), Sequoia (4-3, 2-1) set up a showdown with intra-district rival Woodside (2-0) for sole possession of first in the Peninsula Athletic League Ocean Division on Friday. Nolan Fausto opened the scoring for Sequoia with a 1-yard run. After Sequoia tied the score 7-7, Luke Ostrander’s 45-yard TD pass to Jackson Tetley the lead for good. Silver Creek 42, Del Mar 7
Alijah Guzman gained 133 yards on 12 carries and a touchdown to highlight Silver Creek’s BVAL Santa Teresa-Foothill Division victory. Jordan Thompson, Xavier Hernandez, Daniel Vo and Olivo Jordan also scored rushing touchdowns for the Raiders, combining for 276 yards on the ground. Vo also threw a TD pass to Saxton Sinatra. Dominic Beltran had a team-high seven tackles, six solo. Five other players were in on six tackles. Silver Creek improved to 4-3, 1-1. Del Mar is 2-5, 0-2. — Glenn Reeves
The King’s Academy 28, San Mateo 14
Adrian Barnett caught nine passes for 145 yards and three second-half touchdowns as The King’s Academy came back from a six-point halftime deficit to defeat visiting San Mateo in a PAL De Anza Division game. Glenn Reeves has the complete recap from Sunnyvale here.
Willow Glen 31, Leland 0
Willow Glen continues to look like the class of the BVAL’s Santa Teresa-Valley Division one year after storming through the league with an undefeated record. The Rams’ (5-2, 2-0) only losses this season are to BVAL Mt. Hamilton contenders Branham and Lincoln-San Jose, and another division title appears likely. Leland dropped to 1-6, 0-2 under first-year head coach Anthony Herrera. — Christian Babcock
