The shooting happened about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 2400 block of 66th Avenue, a mostly residential area in the Havenscourt district.

The man was able to tell police he was outside walking when someone in a blue van that was driving by began shooting at him, hitting him in the face.

He was able to run to a residence in the area for help and was given a ride to a hospital where police were contacted, authorities said.

A motive for the shooting is under investigation.

A detailed description of the shooter has not been released.

Anyone with information about the shooting may call investigators at 510-238-3426.
