Man dies at Disney World resort 1 week after woman’s apparent suicide

A man was found dead at Walt Disney World Tuesday, a week after an apparent suicide at the Orlando resort and nearly two weeks to the day since a guest died after riding a Disneyland attraction.

The victim was a male in his 60s who “experienced a medical episode and was transported to a local hospital where unfortunately he died,” the Orange County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to the Daily News. OCSO said there are no signs of foul play.

Authorities were initially alerted to a “person down” at 7:32 a.m. Tuesday, according to a tweet from the Walt Disney World: Active Calls account, which brands itself as providing “real-time tracking of active Sheriff’s Office calls at Walt Disney World, FL.”

The account, which stipulates it has no affiliation to The Walt Disney Company or affiliates, said the call had been updated to a “dead person” at the park’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground’s Cottontail Curl loop.

At the time of publication, OCSO did not confirm timing nor whether the episode occurred at the American frontier-inspired resort, which sits near the Magic Kingdom and allows guests to sleep in tents or rent RVs.

A week earlier, 31-year-old Summer Equitz died by apparent suicide at Disney’s Contemporary Resort hotel, which also sits near the Magic Kingdom area of the expansive park.

Her death followed that of a Disneyland guest on Oct. 6 after she finished riding the Haunted Mansion in Anaheim. That woman was in her 60s and became unresponsive, at which point she was transported to a local hospital, where she was ultimately pronounced dead.
