SAN JOSE — A pedestrian died in a collision on Monterey Road early Thursday, marking the city’s 30th roadway death of the year, police said.

The deadly crash was reported at 5:59 a.m. near Edenview Drive. The injured pedestrian died at the scene, according to San Jose police.
Police restricted traffic on Monterey Road between Branham Lane and Chynoweth Avenue while traffic investigators examined the crash site, and motorists were being advised to avoid the area.
