Six Flags Magic Mountain teases 7 possible new attractions

Six Flags Magic Mountain has teased a diverse collection of possible new attractions that include a launch coaster, dark ride, water coaster and thrill rides in a survey of its biggest fans.

Six Flags has surveyed Magic Mountain season passholders for their feedback on seven possible new attractions for the Valencia amusement park.

The surveys aren’t confirmation of what’s to come, but rather a sense of how the parks could evolve with new rides, shows or festivals over the next few years.

“Six Flags values guest feedback and actively solicits responses from time to time to evaluate interest in potential concepts for future development,” according to Six Flags officials. “There is no promise that these ideas will come to fruition, but the sentiment gleaned about overall appeal, fit with the park, motivator to visit or buy a pass, and more, helps us home in on what our audiences want to see in their local park and refine new offerings. We appreciate those who participate and look forward to bringing exciting new experiences shaped by these insights.”

Six Flags sent surveys to passholders at more than a dozen amusement parks in recent weeks to gauge the types of future attractions they’d like to see at each location.

The lineup of potential new attractions included a nighttime spectacular at Ohio’s Cedar Point, a flying theater at Six Flags Fiesta Texas, a stunt show at Ohio’s Kings Island and an entrance gate coaster at Six Flags New England.

The Six Flags Magic Mountain survey options:

Multi-inversion launch coaster
Story-driven dark ride
Dueling water coaster
Collection of four flat rides

Let’s take a closer look at the seven possible new attractions teased in the Six Flags Magic Mountain survey.

Multi-inversion launch coaster

The cutting-edge launch coaster with a powerful launch and high-speed inversions would deliver a heart-racing experience, according to the survey.

The survey question on the multi-inversion launch coaster included concept art of the Vekoma Ghostrider coaster opening at Brazil’s new Cacau Park in 2027.

The Vekoma Ghostrider will reach a top speed of 73 mph with four inversions over a 3,000-foot-long track, according to Roller Coaster Database. Riders will plummet into a double zero-G roll towards an inverted stall suspending them upside down at zero gravity.

Launch coasters were floated as possibilities in similar surveys of passholders at Cedar Point, Canada’s Wonderland, Six Flags Great America, Kings Island, Six Flags Fiesta Texas, Six Flags Over Georgia and Dorney Park.

Story-driven dark ride

The dark ride teased in the Magic Mountain survey would replace the Justice League: Battle for Metropolis with an immersive new attraction that would bring the mystery and magic of legends to life.

The survey question on the story-driven dark ride included concept art of the new Phantom Theater: Opening Nightmare attraction coming to Ohio’s Kings Island in spring 2026.

The Phantom Theater attraction by Sally Dark Rides will carry riders in enchanted opera boxes equipped with spellbinding flashlights as they pass through 26 scenes filled with interactive targets, according to Blooloop.

The comedic and fast-past adventure will take place on a dark and stormy night during the grand reopening of the haunted Phantom Theater, according to the ride’s backstory.

A lighting strike during an organ performance will unleash mischievous musical spirits throughout the theater’s haunted hallways, dressing rooms and boiler room. Riders must collect the musical spirits and return them to the organ using their spellbinding flashlights.

Kings Dominion and Six Flags Over Texas also floated possible new dark rides in similar passholder surveys.

Dueling water coaster

The water coaster teased for Magic Mountain’s Hurricane Harbor water park would feature a side-by-side inner tube race through twisting drops and high-speed turns.

The survey question on the dueling water coaster included a photo of the new RiverRacers water coaster that opened this summer at Kings Island’s Soak City water park.

The RiverRacers water coaster reaches a top speed of 30 mph in water-jet propelled rafts that race through tunnels with special effects lighting, according to Blooloop.

Six Flags Over Texas floated the possibility of a water coaster in a similar passholder survey.

Thrill rides

The flat ride collection teased in the Magic Mountain survey featured a diverse lineup of spinning, soaring and swinging thrill rides.

The survey question on the collection of four rides included photos of Zamperla’s Disk’O, Nebulaz and Endeavor rides along with a classic Tilt-A-Whirl.

All of the rides can be found at other locations in the Six Flags chain — which has a history of moving rides from one park to another.

Two parks set to close soon have versions of the rides that will soon need new homes — Disk’O at California’s Great America and Nebulaz at Six Flags America.

An identical collection of flat rides was floated as possible new attractions in a survey of Six Flags Great Adventure passholders.
