Milpitas will celebrate Dia de Muertos on Nov. 1 with a 5k run/walk and wellness fair at Gill Memorial Park, located at Santa Rita Drive and Paseo Refugio.

The 5k kicks off at 9 a.m. along an accessible route that runs along the Hetch Hetchy Trail and ends back at the park, where the wellness fair will run from 10 a.m.-noon. The event will feature live music from a Mariachi band, dance performances from Bay Area Aztec, sugar skull face painting, kids crafts, and a variety of wellness-focused activities and resources.
Race participants can arrive as early as 8 a.m. to collect their swag bags and prepare for the race. All participants must start the race no later than 9:30 a.m. Registration is $32-$42 at cityofmilpitas.simpletix.com.
Children 17 and under require an adult signature on a waiver, which will be available to sign in person on the day of the race. The event will take place rain or shine. No refunds will be given.
Halloween for teens
The Milpitas Teen Center is hosting its annual Halloween event Oct. 31, 5-8 p.m. This free event is for teens ages 13-18 and will include a frightening haunted house, caramel apples for teens to create and eat, a mini pumpkin carving contest and costume contest.
