LOS GATOS — The Los Gatos offense is executing at a high level.
The Wildcats scored a touchdown on their first play from scrimmage and another on their second play, kick starting an offensive highlight show in a 56-13 victory over Menlo-Atherton.
Quarterback Callum Schweitzer, who received an offer from Yale last week, hit Beau Musser on a 58-yard touchdown pass on the first play from scrimmage. He completed all seven passes he attempted for 170 yards before sitting out the second half.
Hudson Schrader’s fumble recovery set up Grayson Doslak’s 22-yard touchdown run on the Wildcats’ second play.
Two plays, two TDs, a 14-0 lead.
“Getting off to an explosive start was huge,” Schweitzer said. ” I think we’re just getting started. We’re getting better and better going into the playoffs.”
Los Gatos added four touchdowns in the second quarter to make it 42-7 at halftime. Hayden Benjamin scored on a 10-yard run. Doslak broke a 60-yard scoring run on another one-play “drive.” Doslak (five carries, 108 yards) scored his third TD on a 22-yard run and linebacker Tyler Purcell got into the action, taking a handoff on an inside reverse and scoring his first offensive touchdown.
Los Gatos (6-3, 4-0 PAL Bay)) ran 16 plays in the first half for 320 yards and six touchdowns
A running clock was employed in the second half when the Los Gatos backups added two more touchdowns.
“Across the board this is probably the best offensive group we’ve had since I’ve been here,” said Los Gatos coach Mark Krail, now in his 13th year at the school. “Callum, if he has a clean pocket, he’s going to throw a good ball and good things are going to happen. Nick Bawden was a college quarterback and I had him my first year here. Drew Brown is still playing in Canada. We’ve had some good ones. This offense is pretty darn good. A lot of weapons.”
Menlo-Atherton (3-6, 2-2) scored on a 33-yard pass from Teddy Dacey to Kyle Gabriel in the second quarter and on a 45-yard pass from backup QB Mike Lazare to Zachary Sokol on the last play of the game.

M-A coach Chris Saunders was asked what he thought of Los Gatos:
“They’re either 1A or 1B in the section,” Saunders said. “They’ve got all the pieces, got the size, got the whole apparatus, the institution behind them. They’re not vanilla, they’re really physical and really fast and do a lot of things.”
